SUPERVISION IN EFT AND MBCT FOR PRACTITIONERS AND TRAINERS
Hi! I am an Approved EFT and Mindfulness (MBCT) Supervisor with the EFT & Mindfulness Centre. You don't have to be one of my students to ask for supervision. If you're an AAMET (EFTi) member, they accept 50% of your supervision hours from us. So if you required to attend 6hrs supervision, you can take 3hrs with us.
If you are interested please contact me with the following details:
DO I NEED SUPERVISION?
Supervision shouldn't be a chore and we don't want to make it so. However, if you're one of my students and practicing, you have a duty to keep up with supervision or run risks (see below). If you are accredited with the EFT & Mindfulness Centre it is a mandatory requirement to gather supervision in order to retain accreditation.
If you need any other encouragement, you will find my fees are much less than most other supervision classes. (See at the end for How to Pay).
Any reputable training school will ask you to sign to Codes of Conduct that includes supervision and CPD. If you ignore this then some of the risks include:
WHAT IS SUPERVISION?
It is important that a supervisee comes to an agreed understanding with their supervisor about what supervision means.
WHAT TYPES OF SUPERVISION ARE THERE?
Given below is an explanation of the different types of supervision we can offer. You can choose one or more that suit you.
Peer supervision is on an equal basis for mutual develop and support. Ideally, all participants in the group will have comparable knowledge, skill level and status (all practitioners or all trainers).
Group supervision differs from peer supervision, as it has a leader or facilitator who is often an experienced Practitioner or Trainer who can co-ordinate the group, support confidentiality and keep the group on task, utilising the time most effectively for all. Participation can help with the exchange of professional knowledge (what works, what doesn’t), development of strong skills in managing professional problems, reducing personal and professional stress and increase professionalism within their work. The group leader or facilitator will enable all participants to have opportunities to engage, rather than any single 'strong' or 'weak' individual, as may happen with peer supervision. Participating in a group can also counteract social isolation and gain the advantages of working in a cohesive, collaborative and supportive fashion.
Individual (1-to-1) supervision is the most flexible, as you and your supervisor/trainer can organise the session according to your own needs, whether it is discussing current cases, future cases, past training, future training, professional development, personal impact of therapy, or aspects relating to business management and development. There are a number of benefits from individual supervision:

Any reputable training school will ask you to sign to Codes of Conduct that includes supervision and CPD. If you ignore this then some of the risks include:
- Losing your accreditation
- Practicing as a Practitioner or Trainer in a unconsciously incompetent manner ("we don't know what we don't know" basically). This can lead to harm towards your client
- Having a complaint made against you
- Your insurance and any claims being invalidated
WHAT IS SUPERVISION?
It is important that a supervisee comes to an agreed understanding with their supervisor about what supervision means.
- Supervision is NOT therapy….although it may involve a Practitioner’s personal experiences. If a need develops from the Supervision session, it would be wise to schedule in a separate appointment, or signpost to another therapist.
- Supervision CAN count towards CPD but CPD cannot be counted towards supervision.
- Supervision is a working alliance between supervisor and supervisee in which the supervisee has time and space to reflect on themselves and their work, to be given feedback, and any relevant, guidance. Its purpose is to maximize competence as well as to give help and support.
- Practitioners do no harm
- Practitioner possesses sufficient skills
- Practitioners are up to date with new skills, techniques and legislations (GDPR for example)
- What may be getting in the way of making progress
- How to work with integrity
- Awareness of change within and without.
- How to explore and manage their own conflicts
- What new techniques can enhance your work
- Keeping healthy boundaries
- Working within legislation
- Professional ethics
.......and much much more
